I used the Mesh to Metahuman Unreal 5 plugin to turn a few of the TF2 Mercs into photo real versions of themselves. Work for Meet the Engineer is underway! Additional mercs and more here! There are a few limitations with this process. Most notably the teeth model does not like the exaggerated stylized features and has a tendency to clip through the upper lip. There are also limited clothing, skin types and hairstyles so I chose the closest I could find. This could all be fixed by exporting from Unreal to a 3D suite and editing it from there. Next time I would also edit the heads a bit more to reduce some errors, like the Heavy whos lip curls too much in neutral pose, and giving the eyes textures so the AI feature detector has an easier time.
