If you deal with tightness or restricted range of motion in your chest you may be dealing with an overactive Pectoralis Major. One of the best ways of relieving the tension is with Active Release Technique. • Steps ⬇️⬇️⬇️ • 1. Get a broom stick place one end against the wall and place the other into the chest near the lateral portion- close to the anterior deltoid- avoid the nipple). Stabilizing one hand on the stick Slowly Apply pressure into the chest. • 2. On a scale of 1-10 I like to stay around an eight. It’s just enough pressure but doesn’t make you want to scream. The key is to be moderately uncomfortable. Too much pressure can injure the tissue. Not enough can be ineffective. • 3. From there you want to perform the primary function of the pec major (in this case I am performing horizontal adduction) make sure you breathe with the movement and minimize any firm contractions, make the movement smooth and easy). Do this for 30-45 seconds. Make sure the movement is slow and controlled. *repeat up to 3 tim
