Naval Group introduced a new close-in weapon system dubbed the “Multi-purpose Modular Launcher“ (MPL) at the Naval Innovation Days event held on October 5, 2023. ===================== According to Naval Group, the development of a multi-purpose modular launcher (MPL) system capable of deploying multiple delivery systems, far from the traditional logic of one launcher per type of weapon, represents a real technological breakthrough. The LMP is a mobile turret capable of moving on two axes, circular and elevated. It can use a variety of munitions. The system incorporates ballistic computers that enable it to hit moving targets, and can operate in stand-alone mode or connected to the combat system. The LMP offers considerably enhanced nearfield self-defence capability (up to 8 kilometres), the possibility of integrating additional onboard capabilities (rockets, missiles, grenades, underwater weapons, decoys, UAVs), and greater ammunition payload capacity (around 1,000 kilos), all thanks to its interchangeable ammunition module technology. ===================== For new videos every week, subscribe here!
