Although it was released in 1972 (late 1960s) critics say that the Immortals remained their 1960s Trve Kvlt surf sound. The album “Sons of Southern Sunshine“ was indeed released in the 70s, even though a lot of people are spreading a bootleg version of “Lifeguards“ from 1961. “Lifeguards“ appeared as track #3 on the long play and it has been said that it is one of the toughest vintage records available. “All Surfer's music“ magazine said that it is “arguably one of the best surf rock releases ever put forth“ and a “masterpiece in the history of surf rock“. However, “Lifeguards“ never reached the top 100 and was thus never in the charts. This was caused by the release date of the album. Surf rock reached its peak in the 60s, when there was only a bootleg available to a limited number of people. Band: The Immortals Song: Lifeguards Album: Sons of Southern Sunshine (1972)
