The Beier•Griffin•Pollak Trio is an Australian World Music trio playing original music. The 3 members are: Tunji Beier (zarb, mridangam, kanjira, ghattam and morsing), Philip Griffin (oud, electric bass, rabab, laouto, guitar, balalaika and ukulele) and Linsey Pollak (self designed instruments - cylisax, hybrid chromatic duduk, clarini, Crow and Donna). Most of their music is composed by Linsey and is strongly influenced by his love of and experience with Macedonian music. The core melody of this piece was composed by Linsey, who plays his hybrid chromatic duduk. Philip takes the basic melody into new territory with a beautifully improvised line played on the Afghani rabab, and Tunji plays the South Indian clay ghattam which he studied along with other South Indian percussion instruments under . Mani in Bangalore when he was 16 - 19 years of age. (Filmed by Harry Frith at Baroon Pocket Dam, Nth Maleny, Qld. Australia)
