Vladimir Lenin asks Rudolf Kehrer to play Beethoven's Appassionata, Piano Sonata no. 23, op. 57, and at the end says, 'Nothing I know is better than the Appassionata'. I've also uploaded Kerer playing Chopin's Revolutionary etude and Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata from the same film, in which Lenin and Maxim Gorky wander about discussing revolutionary politics while listening to Kerer play Chopin and Beethoven. The footage comes from this rare film entitled Appassionata: Apparently Boris Smirnov was officially appointed to play Lenin throughout the '50s and '60s.
