Tempest – Live in BBC Concert 1973 (Rare Audio High Quality) Tracklist/Lista de Faixas 01-Foyers of Fun 02-Gorgon 03-Up and Grey 04-Grey and Black 05-Brothers 06-Strangeher Tempest plays a brand of hard rock infused with jazz rock and crazy musicianship. This is my review for the somewhat legendary but rare BBC concert of Tempest with both Holdsworth and Halsall on electric guitar. Complete with cool BBC commentary, this concert is said to have taken place only two days after Halsall joint the band 'to jam'. Later on Halsall would replace Holdworth for their second album. The recording quality of this live record is not sublime, but I'm pleasantly suprised how splendid the Progressive Vinyl Company's pressing sounds (a 2LP with live 1974 included as well). On other versions Holdsworth guitar was burried in the sound, but here he cuts through on the right speaker. Both players are at their best, though Halsall is clearly lost on some of the tracks. His free hard rock jazz sound is however so intense that it doesn't matter much. On this live set the band plays tracks from their first record. The vocals are good, but not as lively as Mike Patto (singer of Halsall's previous band Patto). If you like progressive rock that isn't at all like Genesis but more with a working ethos like the classic hard rock bands, this is a great recording! A bit unpolished but the energy of this band is unmatched in progressive rock. **Recorded Live At The Golders Green Hippodrome, London On 2 June 1973
