Composer Haralabos Stafylakis wrote a piece dedicated to guitarist Tariq Harb, called 'Hyperion' inspired by the poem Hyperion by John Keats (1795 - 1821). Here is a brief introduction in the words of the composer: “I composed Hyperion for Jordanian Canadian guitarist Tariq Harb, a particularly expressive and sensitive musician. With his musical character in mind, I sought to create a substantial and modern piece that was nonetheless Romantic, lyrical, and grounded to some degree on the idiomatic semi-tonal guitar writing that today's players would find familiar...“ Hyperion is approximately 10 minutes in length. It is very exciting to play and very challenging indeed. These performance snippets are taken from a recital I did at McGill University in 2009 for my Masters in guitar performance degree.
