The original martial version of “Tahtib” later evolved into an Egyptian folk dance with a wooden stick, commonly known as a “stick dance“. Music in “TAHTIB” features the tabl (bass drum) and mizmar (folk oboe) A national festival for the martial art & dance and music of “TAHTIB” is held annually in Luxor at the last week of December For more on Ancient Egypt visit Ashraf Ezzat's website
