Official Website: | #MyHomeNC Meet Ty Caldwell, a Robbinsonville native and a master blue trail guide. A world-class whitewater kayaker and instructor, he gained the skills necessary to run Class V rapids after learning on the whitewater trails of North Carolina. We join Ty and his friends and family for a river release trip down the Cheoah River. In 2005, the Cheoah River began scheduled dam releases, up to 20 times per year, to better mimic the flooding necessary for the wildlife habitat in the area. Kayakers are drawn to this river to ride the release runs full of rapids. The North Carolina Year of the Trail series is presented by the State Employees Credit Union Foundation. My Home, NC shares the heartwarming stories of the people, culture, food and music of North Carolina. Hosted by Heather Burgiss, the show uncovers and celebrates the hidden gems and histories that make life in our state so unique and enthralling.
