Following a string of police shootings and killings of Black Americans this year, protests against racial injustice have taken place across the country. Most recently, Americans have spoken out against the police shooting of 29-year-old Black man Jacob Blake seven times in the back in Kenosha, Wisconsin. In several cities, people angered by the brutality have destroyed property in isolated incidents. Trump has focused more on those events, framing them as a danger to public safety, than on solutions to reduce the use of excessive force by law enforcement. Contrary to Trump’s claims, Biden has repeatedly condemned riots as he supports protests.
