For this year’s last installment of Carhartt WIP Radio, we are welcoming UK record label Phantom Limb. The imprint was launched in 2017 by musician and producer James Vella, along with some like-minded music enthusiasts, with the aim of bringing curious electronica and leftfield sounds to a wider audience. Now, the label covers a wide range of genres such as ambient, neo-classic, folk, hip hop, dub, electronic, as well as indie rock and minimal. Its ever-growing roster features artists like UK producer Loraine James, and the up-and-coming Baltimore hip hop producer Infinity Knives. For this edition of Carhartt WIP Radio, Phantom Limb founder James Vella created a mix that, in his own words, functions as a “bird’s eye view” for new listeners, and highlights some “deep cuts from the vaults” for existing fans.
