PIZZO, also called Pizzo Calabro, is a seaport and comune in the province of Vibo Valentia (Calabria, southern Italy), situated on a steep cliff overlooking the Gulf of Santa Eufemia. The region is famous for several culinary specialties - including Tartufo - a large scoop of ice cream with filling in chocolate shell. The town boasts many historic churches and typical Mediterranean buildings. It is worth seeing the castle where one of Napoleon's generals, Joachim Murat, king of Naples, was imprisoned and then executed. A special attraction is the Chiesetta di Piedigrotta - a church carved from a volcanic tuff by grateful sailors who miraculously survived the catastrophe at sea. Did you like movie?
