We are now learning that a federal judge in Oregon has temporarily blocked President Donald Trump from deploying the National Guard in Portland, Oregon. On Saturday, a judge issued a ruling in a lawsuit initiated by the state and city. According to one statement, the judge said the relatively small protests happening in the city did not justify the use of federalized forces. Sharing more information on the developing story is Hal Kempfer, who joins LiveNOW’s Austin Westfall. Kempfer is a Retired Marine Intelligence Officer and National Security Analyst. President Trump announced further troop deployments to American cities, extending the recent initiatives to include Portland, Oregon. “At the request of Secretary of Homeland Security, Kristi Noem, I am directing Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth, to provide all necessary Troops to protect War ravaged Portland, and any of our ICE Facilities under siege from attack by Antifa, and other domestic terrorists,“ Trump previously wrote on social media. “I am also authorizing Full Force, if necessary. Thank you for your attention to this matter!“ “We’re going to get out there and we’re going to do a pretty big number on those people in Portland,“ President Trump said, describing them as “professional agitators and anarchists.“ This comes as thousands of National Guard service members on active duty in the United States and around the globe are not being paid during the government shutdown, leading to financial hardships for family members.
