Avant-garde pan-African spiritual music, free jazz and funk whirled in a social agenda by the legendary The Pyramids with Idris Ackamoor in front. The group goes back to the 1970’s where it grew out of a racially and socially troubled America but they also had their eyes set on Africa which was and still easily is heard in the group’s sound. The band put artistic freedom above everything else and self-released their records, however, this was probably on of the major reason for the band’s undeserved narrow
