Visit Visit our website This black & white film instructs salesman about the features of the new Remington Rand electric typewriter, and how to demonstrate and sell it to a customer. This is circa the late 1940s. The Remington Electric typewriter shown was manufactured by the Remington Rand Corporation around 1949. This Remington had electric-powered typebars, lightning keys, executive type style, and electric carriage movement. It also had many manual switches for tab clearing and setting and ribbon movement. Remington, who started out as gunsmiths, were contacted by American inventor Christopher Latham Sholes and produced the first commercially successful Sholes & Glidden typewriter in 1874.
