Introductory intertitle reads: “About the nearest approach to flying for a human being (unassisted) is the long jump.“ Man performs a long jump. Through camera tricks the film is stopped, reversed and repeated. “One of the prettiest events is the pole jump, and the athlete's grace and dexterity are enhanced by our unique “process-camera.“ The pole vault is seen in slow motion then the film is reversed and repeated. The athlete goes backwards and forwards as the film is stopped, part of the jump is repeated and reversed. “If a pole jumper could perform like this - however, he would be one of the world's wonders! Low angle shot of the athlete going over the top of the pole vault. Film stopped, reversed, slow motion etc. Paper records state that this is “Spartan Sports Club.“ Was an item in Pathe Pictorial issue number 654. FILM ID: A VIDEO FROM BRITISH PATHÉ.
