CATL has built a factory in Shanghai Lingang and is nearing full completion . Sources say that the factory will be on the 25th of this month CATL will also hold an internal roll-out ceremony. We know from the field that the CATL factory is only 3 km away from the Tesla factory. In February last year, Tesla and Ningde Times had signed a two-year contract from July 2020 to June 2022. Under the contract, Ningde Times supplies lithium iron phosphate batteries for electric vehicles produced at Tesla’s Shanghai plant. Lithium iron phosphate as the cathode material of lithium-ion batteries, has the advantages of high operating voltage, high energy density, long cycle life, good safety performance, small self-discharge rate, no memory effect, etc. Previously, it was rumored that CATL would build a new large automotive power plant project in Shanghai, and the new plant would have an annual capacity of 80 GWH, which was interpreted by industry insiders as CATL being closer to Tesla’s production base in Shanghai, China.
