Shannon McNally _ Magnolia _ (Music Video) #Magnolia #MusicVideo This track is a gift to self. I remember the first time I heard Magnolia when I was twelve years old. It’s been my desert island pick ever since. All through the anthemic 80’s and 90’s and whatever the 2000’s have been, it has remained a mystery to me. I didn’t set out to record it, it just happened in a very peaceful moment of clarity. I think I figured out the secret to playing like JJ Cale finally. Just listen so it can play through you, that’s how you do it. It’s a deeply comforting frequency setting if you allow yourself to stay quiet and let it be. It felt so good playing the guitars that I went ahead and played all the other instruments as well. It brings me a lot of joy to share this track with you. It has been on my wish list forever. We thought to keep the video as easy and natural as the song and track. No hair and make up help, no wardrobe, just me as I am pretty much at home when I’m alone singing to the wind and the day. I set an intention for this year, to do everything simple and compete with nothing. So I leaned into J.J. Cale’s near godlike ability to just be and cut my favorite song almost by accident. I’m working with a fantastic producer and engineer, Mike McCarthy, who just lets the tape roll and captures the “light”. He encouraged me to play all the instruments which really has been freeing and allows my uniqueness to show itself. There’s nothing stock that happens when you play an instrument for the first time. Casey Pierce (who directed the video) and I went for the same energy. You may recognize the location as the same one from “Ain’t Living Long Like This”. It’s a fantastic log cabin near Nashville and feels like home. Hope you dig the video! ❤️ Video by Casey Pierce Song produced by Shannon McNally and Mike McCarthy #ShannonMcNally #Magnolia #MusicVideo Follow Shannon McNally:
