The impact sparked a severe G4-class geomagnetic storm, surprising forecasters who expected only a minor G1-class event. Daylight over Europe and the Americas hid a potentially dynamite display of auroras. The solar wind speed increased to near 500 km/s and the plasma density showed a nice increase as well over the past few hours. Storm conditions have since subsided. A minor (G1) geomagnetic storm watch will remain in effect for the next 12 hours while the CME disturbance continues to pass Earth. #solarstorm #CME #spaceweather Images credit: NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center, nemesis maturity channel Music credit: YouTube Audio Library Bus Da Blockbuster - Doug Maxwell Media Right Productions
