The first P of Project 61-1 car had a half monocoque witha tube frame to carry the engine and rear suspension but, after use in the 1963 season, it was deemed not to be a succesful design and the full monocoque was developed for 1964. The new car was a designated BRM project number P61-2 and this design series of 6 cars became known as P261's. P261-2 was used extensively by Graham Hill for pre-season test and development work before its race debut at Snetterton of 14th March 1964. He led the race in truly afwul conditions before sliding off the track and hitting a grass bank. The monocoque was badly bent but recoverable. However, rapid development of these cars meant that chassis P261-3 and 4 were almost complete and the design had already superseded that of the first car. The monocoque was acquited and became a decorative display hanging in the “opposite lock club“ in Birmingham throuhgh the sixties untul being acquired in the '70s by BRM entusiast John McCartney, who had it rebuilt to running condition. Currently owned and raced by Philipp Buhofer.[/quote] Filmed with Canon Legria HF G40 DM-100 microphone Canon Legria HF G70 DM-E1 microphone Canon EOS 7D Related video My pictures Follow me on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter #brm #brmp261 #p261 --------------------------------------------------------- keywords --------------------------------------------------------- loud engine exhaust sound idle revs revving car automobile racecar downshift downshifting canon legria hf g70 DM-E1 dme1 mic microphone motorsport autosport auto car cars vehicle
