Today, Juyly 11, 2022, it is Suzanne Vega’s 63rd birthday. Congrats Suzanne! Suzanne Vega (born 11 July 1959 in Santa Monica, California, USA) is an American singer-songwriter. Suzanne released her first album ’Suzanne Vega’ in 1985. The single of that album ’Marlene On The Wall’ was an immediate success in the Netherlands, thanks to heavy airplay and support by VARA radio even before success in her homeland. Suzanne Vega visited the Netherlands in October 1985 for a performance in Paradiso and a recording of a TopPop video with broadcast on 1 November 1985. As a result the single reached the Top 40 Tipparade on 19 October 1985 and reached #2 in the Tipparade. The album reached #13 in the Netherlands and in the UK. In the USA it reached #91 in the Billboard charts. Since this first single and album her career now spans more than 30 years. More hits and albums followed such as “Left of Center“, “Luka“, “No Cheap Thrill“ and “Tom’s Diner“.
