unfortunately, i lost my line recordings and therefore this video only has the phonecam audio recordings. how very un-pro of me! maybe i will do other recordings at a later date. Available here: A polyphonic drone and pulse-pattern generator. It is based on 4 transistor based reverse avalanche oscillators with a sound-range from lush drones to rhythmic pulse-patterns, that can be used to ping an external filter with a high resonance setting or can be used as LFOs affecting the other oscillators, when they are in drone mode. The oscillator’s controls are arranged in columns (voices) and rows (functions) with a global DESTRUCTION and VOLUME control in the top part of the face-plate. Each voice has two STABILITY settings, controlled by the top row of toggle switches. The settings are FAST(stable)/OFF/SLOW(unstable). Running all 4 voices at once, brings in some extra noise, compared of just running 3 in drone mode (please check out the video demo for more detail on that). The second row of toggle switches selects the three available FREQUENCY ranges MID/HI/LOW(pulse). In the third row the envelope SHAPE of the DETUNE buttons is set the available wave forms to the left is a triangle wave with a slow attack and a slow release and to the right the waveform starts high then slowly fall and jumps to the initial frequency setting when the button is released. to describe it easier: UP(left)/DOWN(right). In the middle row we have the FREQUENCY controls and below that we have the DETUNE controls to set micro-tonal fluctuations in the drones or accelerations in the pulse-patterns activated by the DETUNE buttons at the very bottom, flush with the face-plate. The DIRTY((HUM))DRONE runs on 12V DC with a center positive PSU (included) and the OUTPUT is a mini jack socket. By default it is configured to use mono TS jacks, but there is a solder-pad available, that -when bridged - enables to connect the mono-signal to the second channel, in case one wants to use a stereo TRS jack. (if you let me know i can do the solder bridge for you.) The enclosure is made in a ‘sandwich-style’ (10 x 10 x 4cm including knobs) with an a recycled transparent acrylic plate to protect the solder points and the big capacitors at the bottom.
