Proximal gastrectomy is indicated for GEJ tumors with limited esophageal and gastric extension, or early/small proximal gastric cancer. Potential benefit by preserving gastric function (maintained appetite by Ghrelin production, avoidance of anemia by intrinsic factor and Vt. B12 absorption) vs. total gastrectomy. Double-tract reconstruction is intended to prevent reflux and delayed gastric emptying. Manuscript Published at: J Gastrointest Surg. 2021 Mar 2.
