National army enters city of Nawa as militants continue to surrender weapons following ceasefire

Subscribe to our channel! The Syrian army and security forces began operations in Nawa, one of the largest cities in Daraa province, Sunday. Syrian government forces continue to advance into formerly opposition-held areas of Daraa as part of a ceasefire deal mediated by Moscow. Militants could be seen handing over their weapons, which allows them to remain in the city as part of a negotiated amnesty with Damascus. Daraa was formerly an opposition stronghold and was dubbed the 'cradle of the revolution' after being the scene of some of the first anti-government protests in March 2011.​ #Syria #Daraa #Nawa
