The Dash-8 is a series of diesel-electric locomotives built by General Electric in the mid 1980s and early 1990s. Over 2,200 locomotives were produced as part of this series and nearly a dozen different models were offered. They were primarily used for freight service, but one model was built for Amtrak in the early 1990s. In this episode of Train Talk, we will explore the Dash-8 series including the various different models as well as a brief look at their history.
