Cats are mysterious creatures associated with various myths and legends. In India and Ancient Egypt, cats were an indispensable companion of the gods. So, the Indian goddess of motherhood and the hearth, Sashti, is depicted with a child and a cat in her arms, or simply in the form of a black cat. A similar goddess in the mythology of ancient Egypt - Bastet - was usually depicted with a cat's head. And in ancient Greek mythology, a cat is a faithful companion of the goddess Diana.
