This is me playing a cover of an unreleased song by @thecure from their forthcoming album, learned by way of a live bootleg, to join in the fun for their #thecureacoustichits covers wall. The song is called ‘Alone’ (or at least that’s what the internet says), and, when I saw them open with this at their most recent concert in Birmingham, I was pretty much immediately in tears. Whenever it is that they decide to put this album out, it will surely be worth the wait. Some special mentions on the equipment and plug-ins side of things… @empress_effects Echo System in Left/Right mode adding so much beauty and richness to the vocal drone on my Yamaha VSS-200 (loads to explore with this pedal, it’s phenomenal) The trusty @redpandalab Particle creating the granular delights for the dictaphone piano parts. My Oktava MK319 proving an ever brilliant choice for vocals (although, I must admit, the spill into the piano mics here means this isn’t representative of how good it sounds in isolation…bad engineering, me…) The vocal delay is the @audiothing and @hainbach101 Moon Echo, fed into the D-16 from my slate bundle for some width. Such a cool (and FREE!) effect, great work folks. This is…sort of ropey…but I really wanted to do it. The only way to get better at things is to finish stuff off, put it out, and be on with the next thing. So, back to work. This has been a fun palate cleanser.
