The Temps Lié is a basic ballet step used to transfer weight from one foot to the other. Anyone who can do a tendu and a plié can learn ballet at home and do Temps Liés. In this ballet lesson I'll show you step by step how to perform Temps Lié ballet technique correctly. In ballet class, Temps Lies are particularly common in adagio and tendu exercises. They are frequently used in performances. It's rare to see a classical ballet performance that doesn't include multiple of these. In a Temps Lié you transfer your weight from one foot to the other through a demi plié. You can do a Temps Lie starting with a bent or straight supporting leg. And like all other ballet steps, you can start with either your right or left leg. Temps Liés always begin in a tendu, either front, side or back.
