Funky good times with delay, octaver and a fun new fretless composition! Stretching out and not playing safe here, love exploring all sounds a fretless bass can produce. I’m stepping on my pedals quite a bit in this video, I’m using a Walrus Audio D1 delay, a Boss OC-2 octaver, a Rodenberg 707B booster, an Ebs Unichorus, and a Darklass Hyper Luminal compressor. Delay is so interesting on fretless, it launches me into the cosmos for sure :) I always have just one single repeat dialed in, rhythmic and melodic interplay with the previous note can lead to all kinds of great harmonies, triplets and such, it’s all about imagination! I’m playing my fretless Cortex bass, strung up with Ernie Ball Super Slinky strings. The pickup is a Nordstrand Dual Coil with 2-band Glockenklang preamp, the ramp is made of the spalted maple of the top wood. It’s got a flamed maple fingerboard, a chocolate maple neck, and walnut body. This video is shot real-time in one take, recorded with the DI of my Eich T-1000 amp straight into a Focusrite audio interface. I recorded and edited the drums in Cubase with Addictive Drums before shooting the final take, then added some fills and cymbals and mixed it with mainly volume riding, no plugins or digital post processing. This mix will soon be available on the audio streaming services as well. Shirts and vinyl for Trill Seekers (Feat. The Big Ol’ Nasty Getdown) dropping in the near future, new playthrough and breakdown in the works. Thanks for watching! Studio version of “Trill Seekers“ out now on Spotify: Apple Music: Bandcamp: Facebook: Instagram: Check out some fine Cortex basses: My Eich Amplification gear: Cheers!
