This site is about a family of peregrine falcons using a nest box in Orange, New South Wales, south eastern Australia. NEWS 30th August 2024 Egg # 1 at 1208 h, 27/8 Egg # 2 at 2357 h, 29/8 gap 60 hour Egg # 3 at 1012 h 1/9 gap 58 hour Mother and eggs doing well. Xavier taking his turn at incubation, which he clearly enjoys. Incubation averages 36 days here (range 34 to 40), so expect hatching in the first week of October. Xavier was very busy last night hunting from the tower. Unfortunately I can't see what he's catching. Some prey seem quite small, perhaps large moths, but others are of a substantial size and are clearly birds. LAST SEASON The youngsters fledged really well both on 14/11/23: Marri (at 43 days) at 0939 and Barru (at 42 days) at 1536. Videos on the channel.
