ISU-152 at AusArmourFest 2022. Soviet SPG.

Australian Armour and Artillery Museum outside of Cairns, QLD, Australia hosted AusArmourFest once again, giving visitors an opportunity to see armour in operation on their track. The festival ran from 26-28 August 2022. This footage was shot on Sunday 28-Aug-2022 and is the Soviet ISU-152 on static display at the museum. This self-propelled gun mated the IS heavy tank chassis with the 152.4 mm ML-20S howitzer mounted in a casemate. It carried forward the concept first seen in the SU-152 which had earlier mounted this gun on the KV-1S chassis, which was discontinued in 1943 in favour of the IS platform. The field gun in towed configuration is on display at the museum in close proximity.
