In this 2016 documentary, we explore the fascinating world of herbs in Indian and Tibetan traditional medicine and Ayurvedic treatments. For millennia, the knowledge of these herbs has been passed on, and until today herbal drugs are produced in traditional manufactures, almost like centuries ago. But in India, herbs are also used in other ways, like weaving mattresses or shoe soles, producing incense sticks or hair-dying extracts. In Kerala, we visit an Ayurvedic drug manufactory that also serves as clinic and spa; in Himachal Pradesh, a herbal healer gives out medicine to the villagers in lack of modern medical facilities; in Tamil Nadu, the ancient dying agent indigo is produced with almost medieval methods; in Old Delhi´s century-old spice market, a trader has difficulties to meet the rising demand for herbs; in Mysore we visit India´s most important incense stick manufactury; in the modern city of Bangalore we talk to the owner of largest Ayurvedic medicine company in the world; and in McLeod G
