In Northern Turkey just outside of the historic town of Mudurnu you’ll find a massive ghost town filled with abandoned mansions straight out of a Disney fairytale. They look eerily similar to Cinderella's castle, but they’re empty on the inside, and many of them are starting to fall apart. Burj Al Babas was supposed to be a luxurious $200 million resort with a massive marble-filled complex right in the center of town. The lavish complex was going to have an aqua park, luxury shops, tennis courts, fitness centers, basketball courts, conference halls, and meeting rooms. Developers planned to connect the aqua park’s Turkish baths, saunas, and steam rooms to the underground geothermal spring beneath Burj Al Babas. The spring was even going to heat the entire complex. Unfortunately, the developer went bankrupt due to a number of financial problems. A collapse in oil price and a real estate crisis made finding buyers and investors incredibly difficult. A declining Turkish Lira and political turmoil also made finding new buyers extremely difficult. Basically, everything went wrong at once and the developer of Burj Al Babas had to file for bankruptcy after incurring massive debt. Today, Burj Al Babas sits abandoned and it might never be completed. Tourists from around the world visit Burj Al Babas to see the creepy mansions in person, but locals aren’t happy about the eyesore. Here’s a look at Turkey’s $200 million Burj Al Babas resort and the luxurious features it was supposed to have. Keep watching to find out more about the creepy abandoned resort.
