#africanews Apologize or Leave, that’s the ultimatum given by the Uganda Army Chief, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, who is also the first son of the Uganda President, Yoweri Museveni. The US has been a long standing partner of Uganda but it seems that that the relationship is about to become rocky. Recently, the citizens of Uganda woke up to a barrage of tweets from the country’s Chief of Defence Force, lashing out at the US Ambassador to Uganda, William Popp for undermining the government of Uganda. The question is “What exactly did the US Ambassador do? And, will there be a reconciliation? Let's find out. On Friday, October 4th, the Uganda Chief of Defence Force, tweeted on his X page, accusing the US Ambassador William Popo of undermining his father President Museveni, and the country at large. According to him, Mr. Pool has engaged in undiplomatic behavior in Uganda, although he didn't explain what the undiplomatic behavior was. He said “Fellow Ugandans, it is my solemn duty to announce to you all that we as a nation are about to have a serious confrontation with the current US Ambassador to our country. For disrespecting our beloved and celebrated President and undermining Uganda's Constitution”. He further added that “If this current US Ambassador does not apologise to Mzee personally by Monday morning ( am) for his undiplomatic behaviour in our country, we will demand he leaves Uganda. We have no problem with the USA, as I have said many times it is a country we love and admire. But lately, we have a lot of evidence that they have been working against the NRM government.”
