When this film was made there were only 75 southern resident orcas left in the wild. We chose to highlight this number as an anchor for the fate and trend of Southern Resident population decline, as since the film was made in early 2019, the number dipped down to 72 at one point and is currently at 74 (September 2020). But there's a very simple and surprising way that we can save the orcas: Reforestation. Planting trees and restoring on-land and river habitats is the best, simplest and cheapest form of Southern Resident conservation.
