Marcia Lewis was a brilliant entertainer and a remarkable and extraordinary human being. In this clip from her record-breaking nightclub act ON THE ROAD TO CHICAGO, directed by Barry Kleinbort, musical staging by Alan Johnson, she sings John Kander and Fred Ebb's “So What!”, which she performed as Frauline Schneider on tour with Joel Grey in CABARET. A three time Tony Award nominee, Marcia made her Broadway debut in the original production of HELLO, DOLLY!, taking over the role of Ernestina, also on Broadway in THE TIME OF YOUR LIFE, as Miss Hannigan in ANNIE, RAGS (Tony Award nominee, Drama Desk Award,) ROZA, ORPHEUS DERSCENDING with Vanessa Redgrave, the 1990 revival of FIDDLER ON THE ROOF as Golde, as Miss Lynch in the 1994 revival of GREASE (Tony Award nomination), and as Matron Mama Morton in the 1996 revival of CHICAGO (Tony Award nomination, Drama Desk Award nomination). Her television credits include guest appearances on “The Bob Newhart Show”, “Baretta”, “The Bionic Woman”, “Happy Days”, “Kate and Allie”, and the TV movie “When She Was Bad.” Marcia Lewis performed in leading cabarets and supper clubs in Manhattan, including Rainbow & Stars, Upstairs at the Duplex, Upstairs at the Downstairs, Grande Finale, Reno Sweeney's, Freddy's Eighty-Eights, Town Hall, The Village Gate, and the Russian Tea Room. She also appeared in concert at Carnegie Hall. Her solo album Nowadays is available on CD on the Original Cast Records label. Marcia and Fred D.
