▼Synopsis In the final days of the Edo period, a once-fearsome and respected swordsman has fallen on hard times, living as a ronin. Desperate for work, he reluctantly accepts a job: to kill a cat. This supposed demon cat is said to possess a magical charm that makes its owner completely infatuated. However, the encounter with this small creature brings unexpected changes to the ronin's life, transforming his bleak existence in vivid ways. In the end, Kyutaro hides the white cat Tamanojo, not a demon cat after all. He deceives Sakichi by giving him a pot with an exorcism charm, claiming it's a “cat pot“ that contains the spirit. Sakichi brings the reward of three ryo and informs Kyutaro that Yozaemon has called in the feared constable Masamichi Ishiwata (Ryoichi Yuki), known as “Water Torture Masa,“ and his subordinate Hachigoro (Ryosuke Kawamura) to find the culprit. At Hozuki Row House, Kyutaro faces suspicion about the cat from his neighbor Wakana (Kaoru Hirata) and the landlord. Realizing he can no longer hide Tamanojo, he decides to release the cat at a shrine.
