Newly numbered active region 11748 has ejected three major X-Class solar flares in the last 24 hours, the latest peaking to X3.2 at 01:10 UTC this morning. This followed an X2.8 eight hours earlier and the X1.7 which began the triple X-Class barrage at 02:32 UTC yesterday. Associated with these blasts were strong coronal mass ejections (CME's), none of which have an earth directed component and are being sent safely into space but this may not be the case in the coming days as this active region starts to rotate into an earth facing position.
