Monorail Inc. (Muriel Goodell President) built and operated a monorail in Houston in 1956 and then moved the demonstration line to the State Fair of Texas. The Trailblazer as it was known, operated 1957-1964. It was completely funded and constructed by Monorail, Inc and operated as a fairgrounds concession by Texas Skyways, Inc — making it the nation's first commercial operating monorail line [2] Most of the materials (including the vehicle) were re-purposed from the Houston test project. It opened with a fare of 25 cents in time for the 1956 State Fair of Texas, and became a top visitor attraction. He also tried to sell his monorails in Canada and the USA. The Goodell monorail started 3 years before the more known Disney monorail. SOURCE - Bailey, Bob (Producer/Photographer) Bailey Studios Photographic Archive
