This is a flame ignition test engine. The slide valve is physically 1/2 the size of the smallest production 4 cycle slide valve engine made ( French built Deutz License' 1/2 HP Horizontal - about 1883). Its 1/2 scale translates in the ignition carrier flame pocket having a volume of 1/4 of the original. This project was started over 15 years ago and “shelved“ as it was realized that candle flames do not scale down properly.
