B. Smetana Concert Etude in C Major, JB 1:73 (Klnsk)

Composed in 1858 in Gothenburg, this difficult piece is defined by alternating two different ideas. The first section is a space-saving thrilling toccata which is all about clarity and rhythm, the second a dreamy Lisztian study and at the end the two contrasting elements meet in a powerful climax.
