It is located in the square on Chekist Square in the Voroshilovsky district of Volgograd. Other names: Chapel of Memory, Chapel of St. George the Victorious. The chapel was erected as part of the All-Russian charitable program Silent Echo of War, initiated by the regional public organization Veterans of Military Counterintelligence. The idea was born back in 2008. The Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill blessed the project. Chapels have already been erected in the village of Zhidilov Bor in the Pskov region (2009), the city of Yelnya in the Smolensk region (2010), the village of Nevskaya Dubrovka in the Leningrad region (2011), Volgograd (2012), Kaliningrad (2013) and Sevastopol (2014). All these years, the Council of Veterans of the Department of Military Counterintelligence of the FSB of Russia, together with state institutions, has been working to find nameless graves, raise the remains of fallen soldiers, and reburial them. Thus, the erection of monuments-chapels is only the final stage of a large-scale project, the main part of which is the keeping of the Memory Watch together with the search teams. Here is what Alexander Alekseenko, a representative of the Veterans of Counterintelligence (Moscow), said about the name of the program “Silent Echo of War” at the opening of the chapel in Volgograd: “The war ends when the last soldier is buried. Therefore, it is silent and did not finish everything, and the echo remains. And so that the echo is different, so that we give the memory to those who defended our Motherland. Yes, he went missing, but he defended his country, and we want these pages to be completed.“ The chapel is made of white marble according to a standard design by the Moscow sculptor Boris Matveev. Chapel of classical form, more than 5 meters high. Inside it is decorated with the traditional symbol of military glory, the St. George cross on a pedestal in the form of a St. George ribbon, as well as the image of Saints Alexander Nevsky and Dmitry Donskoy. On three sides on the arcs of the vaults there are inscriptions: “Eternal glory to the defenders of the Fatherland“, “In memory of the fallen in the name of the living“, “07/17/1942 Battle of Stalingrad 02/02/1943“. On the back wall is a black marble slab with the text: “Defenders of the Fatherland, who fell and went missing during the Great Patriotic War on the territory of the Stalingrad (Volgograd) region from the participants of the Great Patriotic War. Strictly above the Volga stands Stalingrad, In battle, stern and calm, City of fearlessness, city of soldiers The city is a tested warrior... V. Kudrin - Red Army soldier of the Stalingrad Front, October 1942. Built with the support of: employees and veterans of the military counterintelligence department of the FSB of Russia; Directorate of the FSB of Russia for the Volgograd region; Russian Committee of Veterans of War and Military Service; search associations of the Volgograd region; regional public organization “Veterans of military counterintelligence“. August 23, 2012“. On June 21, 2012, the laying and consecration of the first stone of the memorial chapel took place, and on August 23, 2012, its grand opening took place. The day was not chosen by chance: on this day 70 years ago, on August 23, 1942, Nazi aircraft carried out barbaric bombardments of Stalingrad, as a result of which more than 43,000 civilians of the city died. (2013)およびSevastopol(2014)。
