Case Studies - Dr Diane Addie Follow feline coronavirus (FCoV) from the start of its journey in a stool passed into a cat litter tray, into the mouth of a FCoV-naïve cat, down through the oesophagus into its first target: the epithelial cells of the villi of the small intestine. Macrophages from the intestine transport the coronavirus into the mesenteric lymph nodes, and from there a brief viraemia will occur transporting the virus to the colon, as well as to other organs. Once in the ileocaecocolic region the virus has completed its intended life cycle, being shed in the faeces of its new victim, passively awaiting its next host. Virus shedding can occur in as few as two days following infection. The battle has begun: virus against monocyte – which will triumph? From this webinar you will learn: 1. The tell-tale signs of primary FCoV infection that you’ll often be able to spot as early as when you give a purebred or shelter kitten his first vaccine. 2. How to cure about half of your feline chronic enteropathy / inflammatory bowel disease cases with just one week of treatment. 3. The best test for ruling out feline infectious peritonitis (FIP). 4. You will obtain a better understanding of the pathogenesis of FIP, which will enable you to understand why it has so many diverse clinical presentations. If you find this subject interesting, you might enjoy other Biogal webinars on the subject: FIP diagnosis: • Feline Coronavirus and FIP Diagnosis ...
