FotN were due to contribute to the soundtrack of R. Stanley's movie but Palace Pictures (tied to Virgin) wanted only their own signed artists. 13/Hardware was based on the 2000AD comic strip 'SHOK! Walter's Robo-Tale' featured in the 1981 Judge Dredd Annual but the creators of the comic strip were omitted from any mention in the film's original release form, leading to a lawsuit and finally 'SHOK!' creators, Steve McManus and Kevin O'Neil, being given closing credits on subsequent releases of the movie. Thankfully, this means Hardware can be seen as the first 2000AD spin-off movie ahead of the Stall
