Sweden’s SMASH ATOMS returns with a new single and music video for “Bring the River” from their impending debut album. “Bring the River” continues the band’s spin on a familiar and nostalgic sound for a new generation. The song is also available on all streaming and download platforms. “Bring the River” follows “Down,” which introduced many to the group earlier this year and even surprised us by being added to over two dozen US commercial rock radio stations. Since #grungeisback has been a rallying cry and the band issued “Into the Light” this past May. Anticipation for the album has been high and the street date is coming up with an Oct. 11th release for the self-titled full-length. Pre-Orders went up last week including a limited (300) Insomnia colored splatter LP, a jewelcase CD or digital options Highly influenced by the ‘90s SMASH ATOMS intend to bring it all back in a new form. The quartet’s enjoyment and intention when creating their first album was to highlight a warm yet captivating sound. While the influences are obvious, there is something charming, nostalgic and infectiously endearing about the group’s material culminating in what will surface as a very strong album mixed/mastered at Crehate Studios (In Flames, Scorpions, Avatar) in Gothenburg, Sweden. SMASH ATOMS’ story actually originates back to 2012 when they formed, releasing one smashing demo and playing a handful of magical shows before singer Glen Gilbert stepped out and the remaining trio changed their name to THE TORCH with Martin then also handling vocals. The Torch recorded two albums, gaining national Swedish radio play and touring all over places like Scandinavia, Germany and Italy. But two years ago, Glen (The Story Behind, Hide the Knives) and the guys reconnected and decided to revert back to their former incarnation and give SMASH ATOMS another chance and here we are. Check out “Into the Light” and “Down” and anticipate more captivating songs in the coming months.
