[Extended Intro at the end]. The town of Romley had some unique siding on the buildings. And I wanted to recreate that for my custom built HO scale buildings. I abandoned the ideas I originally had of using tin foil because it was just going to take to long. But the idea is still doable and It would have looked great. Instead I came up with some quick and dirty roofs and siding. I ended up using paper I printed out with siding on it after some Photo Shop work. And I used sand paper for the roofs. This is not a new idea in the model train world by any means. But it was not the way I was originally going to do it. Well it turned out great. I did not mention it in the video but the windows and doors I used for the buildings are from Tichy Train Group. I am real happy with how the buildings in our town of Romley Colorado look now. Going to check in with my Dad's work on the scratch built retaining wall over in the Buena Vista / Palisades area. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Why so long between videos? (You had to ask) It's been a while since we put a video out. So here it is. Most of our videos depicts what we got accomplished (or not) within one work night at the train layout. With this I had shot video from a couple of different nights. Just showing you how I did the paper siding and the roofs. I had started working on the original idea (using tin foil) for the siding a long time ago, and wanted to do a video just on that. However I had not shot any video for it yet. So now I had two sets of video and an idea for a video. And none of it tied together well. I had to shoot more video to make it all one contiguous video. And since it now had been a while I wanted to do a different kind of intro. Finally shot that and did not like it.. In the mean time I rebuilt my kitchen. Tore out some outside walls to my house and redesigned and rebuilt the entrance to my house. (A 1:1 scale house.) Oh, and during that time I quit my job (all the cool people in the world where doing it). Always kind of stressful thing to do, but looking back it was one of the best things I have done in a while. Had a little time off and then started a new job. Still trying to settle into a new life routine. Work has slowed down on the Layout some but I still go out once a week. Everyone else is still around, but they are not always able to come out. Scott schedule has changed some as well. We are all still around and doing well. Not promising when the next video is going to come out. However I do have footage (that will be easier to put together). And I will be shooting more. Intermodal yard is looking good. Also we have some exciting stuff to share about the original Standard gauge layout as well. Thanks to those of you that left comments and checked in with us. It has helped motivate me to get this out. So more will come. :) Thanks for watching. Model Train Layout Update 123.
