Clerkenwell, London. Narrator explains how fashion in most forms of art seems to run in cycles. In 1957 contemporary design in every sphere is going back to simplicity. We are introduced to a new art - wire modelling. C/Us of a designer at work on a painting of a skier. Various shots of craftsmen in a factory in Clerkenwell bending and welding wire into the shape of a skier. Various shots of the wire being shaped by hand and simple machines. The skier takes shape - its arms and legs are welded. The models are then incorporated into wire frames. C/U of man welding then checking the caricatures. M/S of man using a spray paint gun to decorate the wire. M/S of two women “dressing the models“ gingham trousers and a straw hat are added to a model. Other completed figures are seen - they are presumably to be hung on the wall. Narrator ends by saying that these artworks may not be to everyone's taste but there is no doubt that it is a refreshingly novel idea. Note: featured people include the
