Citroen Hatchback Crashes Trying to Take F1 Corner Footage shows the little boxy electric city car - a blue Citroen Ami - attempting to hurtle around the tricky Grand Hotel Hairpin in Monaco. The narrow bend - which it Turn 6 on the world famous Grand Prix street circuit is famously tough and is one of the most recognisable corners in F1. F1 cars have slow down from their staggering speeds to as low as 31mph - with the superstar drivers applying maximum steering lock to get round the corner quickly and unscathed. It has caught out some of the world's best racers. And it certainly did not end well for whoever was behind the wheel of the Citroen. The little car can also only hit top speeds of 28mph, having no gear lever or clutch - and just three buttons for “drive“, “neutral“ and “reverse“. Footage shows the car come speeding down towards the hairpin in the principality - which has hosted an F1 race on its streets since 1929. The driver then turns into the bend sharply as his tires screech. Desperately trying to make the corner, the little car is soon balanced on two wheels as it heads towards the cameraman. It then tilts over onto its side with a massive crash, shattering the car's windows. The hatchback then slides and slams straight into a black bollard - which sends the little vehicle spinning away like a top. The car comes to a rest on its side - and it is unclear if the driver was injured in the crash. Passersby can be seen on the pavement watching the crash unfold - and luckily none of them appear to have been injured by the stunt. Social media users were quick to criticise the driver for the stunt as the clip went viral.
