For more information on this vehicle visit This sinister numbers matching 1979 Camaro Z28 that wears its original paint and has only 29,052 summertime miles on its odometer. In the collector car world the phrase “You're only young once“ is often translated to “It's only original once“. And while full restorations can help better align doors, get the rattles out and make a car feel new again, it's simply never going to have the same look, feel, smell or appeal of an untouched factory assembled car. This Camaros original GM code 19 water based black paint is much nicer than we expected and displays a unique glossy finish that simply can't be duplicated with today's basecoat/clearcoat techniques. At the ends of the car, front and rear bumper covers that exactly match the wet look of the straight body panels are highlighted by original two-tone gold decals that appear fresh and exhibit none of the usual sun induced fading or cracking. I'm sure restraint played a big part in this Z28s low 907 mile per year average drive time, but judging by the pristine paint and solid body panels, I'm also certain this car resided in a completely weatherproof indoor parking spot. The result is an excellently preserved time capsule that likely hasn't seen a full day of rain or bad weather its entire life. Mechanically, the cars original LM1 V8 is in great shape and is as close to original as you're going to find in anything built during the Carter administration. At the top of the motor, a satin black air cleaner pipes cool air into the cars original Quadrajet carburetor. Below the carburetor, the engine block displays awesome looking blue paint from its intake to its oil pan and sends exhaust through original cast iron exhaust manifolds that still retain their factory heat shields. At the back of the motor, a correct Delco-Remy HEI distributor sends fire through gray Hi-Energy suppression cables. At the front of the motor, a new AC Delco battery and new cables join new coolant hoses and new V-belts to provide rock solid drivability. The VAST majority of components in this engine bay are original, and the amazingly clean engine compartment is cosmetically immaculate. This Camaros undercarriage is extremely original, with solid and clean floorpans bolted to a straight 32 year old chassis. The cars original four speed sends power to an original 10 bolt Posi-traction rear end with performance oriented gears and its original maintenance tab. Up front a factory power steering system combines with factory power disc brakes to provide modern handling and stopping performance. Out back, the factory equipped solid rear axles still hangs by its original spiral shocks and leaf springs, and features correct factory drum brakes. Everything under this car looks functional and solid, and a quick double take confirms GM part numbers on the mufflers that are connected to the cars ORIGINAL exhaust system! Power is put to the pavement through correct black 15 inch F2 Camaro rally wheels that wear satin finish trim rings, spotless “Z28“ center caps and Goodyear 225/70 radials. Sitting inside this car is like taking a trip back to 1979. The oyster custom cloth seats are perfect, and they're a great step up from the standard vinyl units. Below the seats, great looking original black carpet is protected by factory supplied rubber floor mats. On the roof, a tight black headliner frames a round dome light that, along with the original door buzzer, works like brand new. Between the seats, a simple black console houses a chrome shifter that is topped with an awesome original wooden “Camaro“ shift knob. In front of the shifter, a soft and warp free dash houses new for 1979 gauges above a vintage Pioneer tape deck. At the sides of the seats, familiar stainless trimmed door panels sport large armrests and cool “Camaro“ emblems. The simulated rope steering wheel looks perfect atop its black tilt column, and behind the rear seats, you'll find an original trunk that is rust free and in good shape. This all original, numbers matching Camaro Z28 will provide you and your family with years of fond memories and summertime enjoyment!
